Day 11 begins.
Packed up tent. went to drive off - keys left in tent. unpacked tent and got keys. Packed tent, got set - drove off.
Got to winton. saw stuff regarding Banjo Patterson. took photos of kids. Saw biggest deck chair. saw wall with stuff in it. Did the only 3 caches in town including one at the old town ruins.
Left for Kynuna. This was where the Waltzing Matilda billabong is located. Awesome piece of Aussie history. Walked 2.5 kms there and back - well worth it. (See photos etc)
Went through Mckinlay and Cloncurry. Saw the Burke and Wills memorial. Landscape between Cloncurry & Mount Isa is spectacular. There is so much greenish grass. None of the desert that I saw as a kid.
In Mckinlay we stopped in the Crocodile Dundee Walkabout Creek Pub for a beer and a game of pool. Was great to see where the movie was filmed will have to show the kids the movies when we get home.
Got to Mount Isa at 5:30pm. Got to campsite. started to setup. No keys for tray. I think I had left at the billabong and the Swagman has pinched them from me!!!
Panic was all round. My spare keys were locked in the car tray. ARGH!!
Called locksmith. $120 callout and $120 for each hour. :(
Shaine arrived to save the day. 1/2 way through picking the locks I find the fecking keys burried in my pocket. Shaine laughs and only charged me a callout fee.
grumble brumble fecking bloody keys mutter mutter millenium hand and shrimp!!!
Dinner cooked. I had a couple of rums and snapped out of my grumpy mood. On the plus side we did get to see a cool falling star or meteorite over the back of our campsite! Time for bed.
