Started the day at Longreach. Took a bit of effort finding a place to get water for the tank. Found a tap at the showground. The tank started to leak. yay.
Had the silicone goop and got it fixed. water for all!
Went to the Queensland And Northern Territory Air Service museum. Very cool. Kids spent ages finding images to be Air Investigators. Loads of fun had by all. Go QANTAS!
We then went to the Stockman's Hall of Fame. Great place. Kids learnt heaps. Loved the breadth of info.
Found some geocaches here and there. Rescued Mr Roo from the cafe' as he'd seen them all last year.
Got on the road.
Drove towards Winton. Stopped at a truck stop. Susan spent her time looking at an eagle fly around. I found some round rocks that were really weird. later confirmed to be Moon Stones.
Got to the Australias Age of Dinosaurs, just outside of Winton. AMAZING. Everyone must go.
There was an earth Cache there. The staff were really helpful. They showed us how to process dino bones out of rock, and heaps of other stuff. They have found three new species of dinosaur, including a raptor!! They even have the Halotypes of them in the museum that they let us see. Unheard of - they are usually locked away from the public.
Reluctantly left and went to Winton. First freecamp was like an earth quake hit the dirt - bloody Black dirt and its recycling properties. Found a second place down the road - much better. Setup for the night and went into the pub that Banjo penned and first performed Waltzing Matilda for dinner
night all.

FOOTNOTE FROM SUSAN: You know you are in a road side rest area in outback Australia when yu loc the door and just as you bend to pull down your dacks something moves in the dunny and you just see it out of the corner of your eye. I can honestly say it scared the life of out of me until I discovered what it was. I shrieked, saw the cute fellow below and moved elsewhere!
